I've got something?!?

In cleaning out the leaves around my deck this morning I found two holes about as big around as an apple right up next to the structure. Upon further inspection, another hole of the same size was dug last night in a freshly mulched garden bed next to the deck. Any ideas?

Our chipmunks holes are normally the size of a banana round, but the goffers do the really large ones with dirt thrown up and around.
