The elusive Indigo Bunting
We've been lucky enough to have this fella, plus another male and female for two years now.

OMGOSH! I took this picture back on June 5th and dumped in with the bluebirds without enlarging, assuming it was an Eastern Bluebird, b/c we'd had one we found dead the few days before that. I can't believe it's an Indigo! I haven't seen one in our yard since about 18 years ago or so!
I love your picture though! It was here and gone so quickly, I didn't have time to adjust for the distance

Jane, I think yours is maybe a Blue Grosbeak. I have one that looks like that comes everyonce in awhile to feed. We have the Blue Indigo's here too, but they seem to stay down where it is a little secluded by thicker wooded area.
They are both beautiful birds. Indigos appear very irridescent.
