Count the salamanders ...

Post by HostaDesigner »

HUGE picture, consider yourself warned!

We had a big thunderstorm tonight with about 1 1/4 of rain in about 20 minutes. The egress window is my "salamander observation area". The rain brought them all out at once.

My nieces and nephews will love this pic. :)

I don't care for salamanders, but I would take them anyday over a snake!

OH, they are SO CUTE!!!! Salamanders are my weak spot (that and frogs and chickadees).

I saw spots on one, are they all the same "breed".

When we lived in Ipswitch, MA (I was 10 ish) the basement would flood periodically. The base of the bulkhead had pea gravel and I would dig in it to get the little salamanders to keep in my room. I just looked through my amphibian book and can't for the life of me remember what they were. I do remember they were small, slender, dark, and had red lines (I thought down the sides but must have been down the back.)
