Not as good as OC.....

But really thought we could use some new photos here. Without OC around there hasn't been much going on in the wildlife forum.

Ed must of thought the same thing as he has posted some great new pics!

Anyway.....I got my new camera yesterday and I have been playing around with it today trying to learn at least the very basic functions. I ended up getting the Fuji S8000fd. I was leaning more towards the Lumix but dh liked this one the bestand we both have to use it. I am more flexible than he is but I am good with it. :P It does fit my hand really good which is a plus right off. Soo. here are some first shots. I will add them as I get them resized.

Nice, Claudia! OC would be proud! :D

I am asking for the Fuji S700 for Christmas. It's not as 'fancy' as the 8000, but for the price, I think it is the next step for me. Nice pic you have there! I'll keep my fingers crossed that the 700 does a good job!

Thanks, Charla. Do some shopping around and might get the 8000 for about the same price. I just couldnt see spending a $1000 or more on a DSLR right now, though he would have if I had been really set in my mind!

I have a Canon Rebel 35mm and we ought to just get another lens for it. But that will run around $300! That would give us the best of both types for what we want to be able to do.

Looks like you are getting a good handle on it already Claudia! Nice pics! Don't you love those RB Woodies! This is only the 2nd year we've had them, and their

Enjoy your camera, I have the 5600 or 5700 or something like that. Love it, but would have loved if they'd had the newer fangled ones like yours back when i got mine :) Enjoy!

And keep up the pics, it's fun to view them :)

Jane, one reason I nixed the Rebel XTi besides the price was I just thought that was it way more camera then I needed! I still have to get an editing program as you can see by this pic! lol

We love the woodies too. We have 4 kinds here. The Downy, Hairy, Red Bellied & the Pileated. We have only seen the Pileated a couple of times but we hear them alot.

You might try the free adobe just to see if you like it. I've been using that to reduce, and fix pics and such for some time, maybe a year or more. The only thing is, it captures all the pics you download and untill I figured out how to load them independantly into what I wanted I was a bit frustrated. Then again, that's another reason I'd like to purchase the larger adobe. It allows you to do so much and to file them so neatly into year/month, type and so on. I really like it, just haven't had the extra mulah to do a larger program yet :(

Love those red-breasted woodpeckers! We fed birds for 21 years this last spring and never saw one till I think it was last year, but for sure, this is the first year we've had it return to the yard so often. Then again, this is the first couple winters I've put out so much suet. I think (personally) it was the homemade stuff that called them in!

Okay, Claudia, I think you talked me into it! I've been researching the difference between the 2 Fuji cameras, and have seen them both on line for much less than some other places.

I don't want to hijack this thread asking you about different cameras, so would consider sharing in a pm where you chose to purchase your camera, and why? Thanks in advance!

a couple of different visitors yesterday. A Northern Flicker and a Sharp-Shinned Hawk.

I know they have to eat, but last year, we had a hawk that kept eating his catch from the feeders right out my bedroom window :( Needless to say I wasn't happy with him. He nearly got his. Hopefully one day the ferral cats out there, will give him his just desserts!

Honestly, I don't mind as long as he eats it all and doesn't leave the heads laying about like he has in the past :(

Very cool pic of the flicker! Love them!
