Birds In Motion

Post by nanny_56 »

Trying to catch birds with their wings in motion has become almost like an obsession with me! When you get a good one it is sooo amazing! But the not so good ones can be pretty cool too!

The doves look so pretty when you catch them with their wings open. They remind me of angels.

Cute shots! Now you need some captions to go along with them! The other thought would be to do them as a screen saver with little captions added! :D Good job! It's another hobby. Enjoy it!

Excellent photos, you should enter them in photography competitions. What kind of camera do you use?

Spider, I use A Fuji 8000. It is a very nice point and shoot! I would love to enter them but I have no idea how to begin!

Forgot to say thanks for the compliments, spider & Charla!

OC!!! So glad you stopped by today!!!

I just use the auto setting. I have yet to advance that far to go manual and adjust settings myself! That was another reason I didn't get a DSLR. That is all so intimidating to me!

I do get the area in focus and I am poised to shoot when I see movement though. My arm gets tired sometimes. I really need to get a tripod sometime soon.

Oh, one more thing cleaning the windows is VERY important!

Claudia, do you use your anti-shake feature on these? I have been having pretty good success with it on mine in taking dog pics...

Wow! That one is almost afordable for me! I found it's predecessor the S700 7.1mp for $185 and may be able to get that one. I just spent my whole tax return on plant things  . I'd like to get shots of the ospray shaking off with a fish! They do that at eye level from my balcony! I'm excited now!

Spider, the S700 is the new one I just got....so far so good. Hard to tell for me as I am not a good photographer, but since I got the defective one replaced I have been very, very happy with it. The big difference in the two cameras that I could see was that the S8000 has an 18x optical zoom compared with only 10x on the S700.

Walmart carries them for around $195.

Charla, I was using it alot at first not much now. On these particular photos I did not use it. From where i take these from I am able to lean against something to help steady myself!

Well, you definitely are very steady, Claudia! I am going to get one of those tabletop tripods....I can't even hold the camera very still with both elbows resting on something and holding my breath!

The reason I ask, is that I think the anti-shake feature helps with subject movement, too? Not sure, that's why I ask... Still learning...but lovin' every minute of it! I am sooooooo happy with my camera! :D

Charla, I'm not sure about that myself! A lot of people use the sports mode but I haven't had much luck with that myself. I'm still unable to comprehend what all I could really do with this camera if understood all this more!

I just do what I do as I go along! I want to get a tripod too!

Claudia, just exactly how much time are you spending at that window??   Great pictures!

This is one my favs with wing action. Taken with a Sony 717 in shutter mode at 1,000 sec with flash, tripod, and remote release.
