This bird was in my neighbors yard this morning. I saw it as my daughter was getting on the school bus. I grabbed my camera and was only able to get a shot at a distance, so it is a little fuzzy, when I crossed the street to get a better view it flew.

My neighbor saw me and called to see if I knew what it was. She was watching it from her house and said it looked like it was getting worms or bugs out of the grass.

I am assuming it was just passing through, but sure would like to know what it was. Any and all help would be much appreciated.

Hi Tracy, what you have there is a Cattle Egret, me thinks.

Paul,

Thanks so much for the identification. I will let my neighbor know. We have lots of cattle around here, but have never seen one of these before.

Thanks again.

Tracy

Cool catch! Interesting, I've never seen one, although it shows them all over the U.S.! Very cool! Thanks for sharing it!

After you identified this for me, I called a lady who is an avid bird watcher to see if she had ever seen one. She had never even heard of them before. She was very interested.

So thanks again for the help.
