He Came Back!

I was astounded that it was out there again this morning!
I got a couple shots that I thought were cool, as they show just how large they are compared to a Red-bellied and a Downy Woodpecker!

Claudia, that is so cool. I can't believe the size of that pileated. I have red-bellied and downy woodpeckers at my feeder too and the red-bellied always looks huge compared to the downy. In your pics it looks like that pileated towers over the red-bellied! I would love to see a pileated in person, just amazing. :cool: :cool:

Paul, they are just totally awsome! And to see it in flight is something!

Here is very, very bad shot from yesterday as it flew away. I waited too long to take the shot since I was standing there with my mouth hanging open in awe! :lol:

Isn't that what Woody Woodpecker was supposed to be, was a pileated??

Yep! The Pileated was the model for Woody!

Just love seeing your pictures! I'm kind of surprised the other fellas aren't intimidated by that guy!
