These are just too cute! They sound like they are laughing when they greet each other.

How cute! Are they full grown, or young ones?

These are full grown. They dissapeared for a while (I guess to the big lake -natural banks- to breed) now this one is back. When the big alligator swims by he is escorted by these guys. Punchy little things swim straight for the gator, nose to nose, and veer off at the last minute. I think they even dive under the gator! The big gator is about the length of the canoes or more.

Those are awsome birds then! Perhaps they aren't worth the time for the gator as they'd only be a snack? Aren't there some birds that pick food out gator mouths, or am I dreaming?
