Baby Killdeer

Post by Garden_of_Mu »

This momma and her mate set up their nest in a parking lot at my workplace. The parking space next to them was cordoned off to give them some room, and they spent their days running about pretending they had a broken wing anytime someone was going to or from their vehicle. After a few weeks the babies hatched and followed daddy around while momma stayed with the remaining eggs. After the 4th one hatched a few days later they all left.

The little ones were really adorable while they were here. They're feet are so outsized for their little fuzzy bodies.

The photos were posted on our workplace intranet site without any credit as to who took them, so sorry I can't give props to whomever got these great shots.

That is to cute!

Ya know we have tons of these running around. I just now looked them up! I tried to get a couple pic of them but they blend in to well with the road LOL.
