Little teeny bright red ones!
These showed up in a swarm or just before a swarm actually. They were undermining the Patio, so I put out terro. I mean, seriously undermining. That area is about 2X 2 inches where they've dug out all the dirt and sand below! Most ants I've seen on there have just built the little sand piles. These guys were getting ready to move my paver I think!
Anyway....I put the terro out after I saw the swarm show up and the workers had already dug the mess out! They all appeared to die over night and were just stuck to the side of it without moving. Really strange in the heat of the day too! So about 2 days later, I walk by and see that they appear to be starting to come back to life! MY gosh, they were, very slowly, starting to move again! So, again, I put out more terro and again, they seem to have died away. Even the winged bandits were eating it and then trying to fly, but some not able to, like they were tipsy! So...here they are...what type are they?

You aren't serious are you? Don't all ants swarm? OHMY! Termites are black aren't they? These things, even the winged ones are red, look the same except that they have really long wings! OHMY! NO! NOT TERMITES! It's on the patio, away from the house, oh dear, oh me, oh my!

No not termites
Termites have only 2 parts of their body where as ants have 3 segments.

Re: More ant ID's?
So? Do you think they could be imported fire ants?

Too small and too light colored I think. I'll try to remember to photo an ant pile for you, there are plenty here!
Spider's Hosta List There are photos there too

We have those little ants like that too. Come from under our sidewalk so I don't think they are fire ants.

No, one of the sites I read about the fire ants on, say they can start in the cracks of pavement and or along side of the sidewalks!
