In July I came across a nest of five newly born leverets (young hares)
The hare is vaguely related to the rabbit but lives in a nest on top of the ground (unlike the rabbit who lives in a burrow)
This means that it must grow up more quickly in order to survive, and its longer back legs (much longer than a rabbits) give it a turn of speed that has to be seen to be believed, and aids in that survival
Last week the first of the newly born appeared on its own in the garden. Cute eh?
You can view an updated video of the young ones in THE VIDEO ROOM
