Hallson Gardens

We've had a creature of sorts sitting in a big old tree out back every summer for some years, and this year there appear to be 3 of them in separate trees.

This thing is keeping neighbors awake that are without A/C and have windows open in the heat we had, and we've all been trying to figure out what it is!

At sundown it starts this series of quacks and doesn't stop till sunup. It seriously sounds a lot like a duck (but no, we've never seen it). Sits high in a tree and goes non-stop all night long....3 quacks, a pause and then 2 quacks. Sometimes it repeats the 3 or 2, but mostly 3, then 2. Anyone know what this thing is? I tried to find in the tree tonight with a flashlight, but even that didn't stop or cause a pause in teh quacking. Any help? Please?

It is probably a tree frog of some sort. They make noises that are often mistaken for birds or squirrels.

That was my first thought. Is there a place online to hear these things. It certainly sounded to me like a frog, but not the typical 'bull' cry, I'd imagined. It's loud and obnoxious and poor people without A/c, I can't imagine trying to sleep with your windows open and him ALL summer and ALL night long. He's still at it out there! Nasty bugger!

Could very well be this guy, as its call is more like a quack: wood frog

This tree frog is more common, but their call sounds more like a small bird: green tree frog

If it keeps up its racket it will likely attract a predator

I'm not sure if its just my computer, but those sounds were very strange and electronic sounding.
