shrews - good bad or none of the above?

Post by caliloo »

I think I have a shrew living near the foundation of my house. It is running across the surface of the ground rather than through tunnels. Are they harmful to plants or are they beneficial grub eaters?

Thanks in advance!

Shrew are the Good Guys...eat grubs, will even kill voles. Don't eat plants.

Are you sure it is not a vole? Voles look more like mice, whereas shrews have long, pointy noses.

Actually, Im not sure at all. I haven't had an upclose and personal visit with the critter   I thought voles prefered shallow tunnels to the surface though... :hmm:
