Cool pic!! I had one of those at my feeder too. Me and Muffy looked it up because I thought at first it was a flicker LOL.
My pic didn't come out nearly as good as yours though!

if you keep suet available
SHE will probably stick around. They really like nuts too!
On the male the red comes all the way down the front to the forehead area.

OK Claudia, how the heck can you tell if it's a he or a she by that?
were only looking at a little more red on top.
If it was a bald guy it would be easy, and you know that this one was my first Red Bellied, and she is kind of pretty un-like most girl birds, so it was an honest mistake

And Claudia, you're such a great source of information about them all! I never knew that about the red extension and male/female. I'll have to search my old pics!
