Oh My Goodness!

I walked into the living room... looked out the big south windows and what is perched in a tree right outside the windows??? A Bald Eagle!!! I didn't have a camera handy and he flew off in seconds... but that camera is sitting on my desk and I am hoping he comes back!! Woo wee! A Bald Eagle in my yard! When I moved in here over 20 years ago.. I had no birds.. no trees either.. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever expect to see a bald eagle. Now I have to go and find some road kill.. see if I can entice him back. :D

So not only do we have to drive with the cameras ready, we have to wander around the house camera ready. I have yet to get my perfect shot of a cattle egret because I'm always driving when I see them hunt close up. (and no, I don't do drive by "shootings", but wish I could dare to  )

I had a similar experience a couple weeks ago. I was sitting in the living room reading, just happened to look out the window in time to see a bald eagle swoop down over the house and skim the top of the apple tree. I've seen them close by, down the road a mile or so, but this is the first time one cased the yard. I discovered later that John had a dead calf outside the barn, one he lost in the cold snap, and he hadn't disposed of it yet. I'm sure the eagle was looking for a way to get at it, but just didn't want to risk flying down between the buildings.

Aren't they so pretty? I bet that was pretty cool, one landing in you tree!

LOL I pretty much always have my camera ready! Unless I'm going to work I pretty much take my camera in the truck with me every where else I go. I didn't last week end and me and my sister, Muffy decided to stop at a lake and she got some cool pics. I was growling to myself that I didn't have my camera hehe.

That must of been beautiful to see!
I remember last summer I was sitting on the deck relaxing and watching the birds feast at the hanging bird feeder in front of me. All of a sudden swooooop comes a hawk and grabs one of the little birds right from the feeder and flew off. I must of sat there with my mouth wide open for like 2 minutes... how rude! New twist on 'his last meal' ...poor lil bird.

 Spider, we need to be more like Annie!
No Steg.. I did not produce any road kill! I also did not find it. I miss the day's when the kid's road the school bus and would come home and say there's road kill on the ridge road! we'd hop in the car and go collect it! Roadkill is harder to find in the winter. I did tell my girlfriends son who loves to bunny hunt that's I'd pay him a buck a bunny. Heck he's killing them anyway. Told him squirrels were woth 50 cents he said "cool" i get hunderdes of those! Mom told me not to expect too many.. his luck isn't that good.
I wish I had Linda's dead heffer! Lucky you! How do you guys dispose of your dead cows? Out here we have to pay someone to take them away for horse food. You're not suppose to bury them.. not even horses... I just found that out not too long ago.
Nanny I have a hawk that tries to grab the small birds.. the sparrows fall victim the most but I have never seen the snached right from a feeder! That must have been something to see Hummingbird! New twist on 'his last meal' I know it's not funny.. but your post gave me giggles.

I haven't seen him back yet but boy I hope he comes back.

Hey, I'm one up on Annie! I DO bring my camera to work :) You know, just in case I get the urge to go across the bridge for some beach action.
