These pictures are amazing. We rarely see a pileated here. Are they coming because of the feeders on the trees? What is in the feeders?

It's just regular store bought suet in the feeders. They are here year round...but they will start coming to the feeders here in May which I assume is when they start nesting. Each year it has stretched out longer. Last year by the middle of June they had quit coming. This is the first year we have had them bring fledgelings. I was so excited! I assume it is due to the easy access of a food supply.

From this morning...DAD feeding the juvie.

Thank you so much for sharing these wonderful pics! Such an interesting family.......I've only ever seen one adult...it was in the Upper Peninsula.....p :wink:

I get happy everytime one shows up!! I love them...one of my favorite birds for sure!
