Raising Black Swallowtail Butterflies

Post by nanny_56 »

Earlier this summer I tried to raise Monarch BF's. I found several eggs and got them to hatch but with in days they all would die. I even had a friend mail me some more eggs and they all died too. So I gave up on the Monarch and started looking for BST's instead. They are much easier for some reason!

I have one that made its chrysalis last Friday. So it should eclose the first of next week. It takes about 10-14 days. The next biggest one that I have is the big green one pictured below. It gut purged today so it will begin to make its chrysalis in the next 24-48 hours.

I have 2 more smaller BST' caterpillar instars too
