Looks like a young Ceder Waxwing. Do you have any adults around?

Thank you both, I did a google-image search and enjoyed seeing photos of the cedar waxwings. I don't think I've ever seen an adult one around here. That bit of yellow is very distinctive, so I'll watch for them. Thanks again, John

Sure seems a strange time of year to be seeing a juvenile bird of any kind!! I'm seeing tons of cedar waxwing coming thru right now...their regular stops at the ornamental crabapples...flocks of 'em!

They are a beautiful bird! A few years ago, I found one on the deck that had killed itself by hitting the window... I was surprised at the bit of red on the wings...it really IS "wax-like"!................Pam :wink:
