Pileated Woodpecker

Post by woodthrush »

A female Pileated Woodpecker has become a daily visitor at our birdfeeder this winter.
When the sun hits her crest, it just glows.

They are such beautiful birds. I have only seen a couple in person. We don't seem to have many here, although we do have a lot of woodpeckers coming to the feeders.
Thanks for posting the picture.

One of our favorites! We have not had luck getting them to come in the winter for some reason tho we do see them and hear them. They come all during the nesting season and last year brought the youngun's with them once they were big enough!
