I went out for a morning walk yesterday morning to look for birds yesterday morning. I hadn't really done this since losing Buddy. This was a morning ritual 365 days a years for us. If I did walk this summer I either took a different route or a different location completely. But it was as if someone or somthing was telling me to go.
So that is what I did and these are the wonderful birds I saw....
Barred Owl Sleeping
After a few photos he woke up!!
Spotted several American Tree Sparrows....so cute!

This Junco was seen on the morning walk too!
Later in the day making a run to the gas station I saw this Turkey Vulture
On the way back home spotted these Mallards in the neighborhood pond.

Re: Morning Walk
Thanks you guys!
Keep watching for the owls. I would see them often at night flying around or perched in trees but it took me almost 2 years to find one during the day! They blend in so well they are hard to see too. I walked by this one twice before I saw it! It was very low in the tree...a branch only about 6-7 feet from the ground.
We had an awesome summer with the owls here. We had a pair with their 3 fledglings that would come to our yard and the 2 neighbors south of us. They would come just about every evening and if they weren't in one of our yards I learned where to go and look! This went on for about 3 weeks. Sadly, one owlette was killed by flying into a utility pole. I think this owl could be one of them.
The 2 times before that I have seen owls during the day they were in this very same area.

Re: Morning Walk
I can get quite excited by all the wonderful and simple things I see on nature walks. This summer, as I was doing my daily walk, I saw so many interesting sights. All quite normal and natural, but still exciting. It is too bad that the cold will keep me in most days for the duration of the upcoming winter. But good for you in finding such a variety of birds on your walk. I thoroughly enjoyed the pictures. CHAR
