What's the guy doing? We have a bunch of flickers and this spring, they're digging in the front yard instead of the trees...not totally but quite often. Grubs or something I'm guessing and it's just the front yard too. I've seen them with their beaks deep in the ground...and inch or two I'm guessing...probably up to their eyes at least.

I'm always impressed with Flickers. They are such a large and colorful bird and I love to watch them out in the yard. They must be digging for grubs or worms

I saw the same thing a couple days ago. I didnt know what kind of bird it was. Because of the red on its head I assumed it was a woodpecker. I could only get a blurry pic of it through the screened window.

I think flickers are one of my favorite birds, the red on the head, a flash of yellow as they fly, clinging to trees.
