I grew some daylilly seed for the first time this year...they are now 5 to 8 in. tall and seem to be doing well...my question is...how soon can I set them out?

You can start hardening them off now - early morning sun and shade the rest of the day. Gradually increase the sun for a couple of weeks. When you are ready to plant them into the ground, cut about half the foliage off and let them rip.
We grow our seedlings in a hydroponic unit and they go from the unit to the ground with no hardening off. They usually pout for a couple of days but they get no hardening off at all. Don't worry about light frosts once they are in the ground, they will be fine.
