Wren's Song

Post by toomanyanimals »

I was so happy to see the tentecles on Wren's Song, even though they aren't 3/4 of an inch long as they say they will get.

That's very pretty - and I think I would buy it just for the name

That is very pretty! I just have a few daylilies so I don't know much about them, but what are tentecles?

Hi Debbie,
Tentacles are when the edge of the daylily points out. Some say like 'Shark Teeth'. If you click on my picture of Wren's Song you will see some points along the edge. These are the tentacles. Stamile says sometimes in the hot weather of the south, these will get to be 3/4 of an inch long.

Very pretty TMA - I got it this spring too and love it. I already have one pod per scape and won't do anymore but the pollen was used everywhere and have lots of pods from her. With the 90 plus days here and NO rain, the pod setting may come to a screeching halt.

Jay Dee,

I've been trying to make some crosses. But the flowers have really just begun. I haven't been successful with a pod yet this year, neither have the bees. lol

I start work very early in the morning, and it has been pretty hot here and I have been going up to the cottage as much as possible to be with my Dad (lung cancer).

Hopefully soon I will have a pod or two. Last year was much more productive.

This is going to be a tough year for pod setting with the high temps everyone is having. I gathered a fist full of tags that failed last night to take off the list. My best pod setting was a little over a week ago when the temps were cool. With 90+ days, there will be many more failures than successes.

Now why would a sane person, with temps again above 90 be outside early a.m. slopping pollen around. Hard headed, stupid, persistent - I don't know, but there I was today using the excuse it is kind of overcast, maybe that will help.
