I understand there are no pure white hems, yet, I've seen a number of beauties posted here such as Snow's
'Quietly Awesome'. What makes a hem a pure white? Would it have to be one with white petals AND a white throat?

Some daylilies do appear pure white, but not when compared to a truly white flower such as a Madonna (true lily) lily. I grow 'Gentle Shepherd' and it is very white in the sun, but held next to a real white, has the palest tint of peach.
I believe there cannot be a WHITE daylily, as the substance of the petals has a color to it, and this will show through the 'white' color.
I think a very white (near-white) daylily is certainly improved by having a green throat.
