actually this is my second seedling to bloom this year, the first was so butt ugly I got rid of it before anyone could see it , anyway none of the registered have bloomed yet.
Maiden bloom, S-449 Collectors Choice X Ida's Magic
5.5 inch bloom, 27 inch scape, cherry pink, cherry red eye, yellow throat, and a little action going on the petal edge
Not what I would of expected from this cross, I was thinking yellow edge, the eye is a mini surprise, and a darker color, but it's pretty anyway

That is a nice one, Ed. Sort of a vermillion color that I haven't often seen.

That has a very nice eye to it Ed! Really looking forward to seeing more of yours too
Re: S-449 first daylily of the season
Thanks Chris & Alexa
Season is just starting here.
Things I noticed, we had a cool wet spring, then it got really hot, then cool again, no real rain since early June, = low bud count, less branching, adding up to less than a good year so far.

I am liking this one! I was thinking the same thing regarding the weather. I have a bunch of new DL's that came from Florida and they are really struggling with all our rain and cool weather.
