daylily question
daylily question
Can a daylily grow from just one bulb taken from the root. I would be interested in starting alot of plants , but not sure if the plant will grow from just 1 bulb or if I need the entire root. If anyone has the answer, I would appreciate a response Thank you Fran
Re: daylily question
Hi Fran,
Daylilies, Hemerocallis, that is, not lilies/Lilium, do not actually grow from bulbs.
To multiply daylilies, each division should contain at least one 'fan' of leaves and its roots. Often, a clump will fall apart rather easily, especially if dug and soil removed by hosing it off with water. Otherwise, a clump can be divided by cutting apart...
Hope this helps.
