Did you try to cross it with anything?
Did S-280 bloom for you? mine did and the colors were lighter than normal in this crazy summer, I have noticed this with more than a few.

Ed, I think S-198 looked like it had more saturated color here than in your photos!
Unfortunately, S-280 did not show off its stuff. It did bloom, but like almost ALL my daylilies this season, they were pale (and often deformed) versions of themselves. I attempted to cross it with MORT MORSS, and just harvested the two pods; seed total: 4. Almost nothing set seed this summer either. Temperatures were in the 90's and 100's from about May 1st straight through to August 1st!
