Dividing daylillies
Is it okay to divide the dayllies when they are in Bloom ?

You can divide them any time....you can't hardly kill 'em;)
At least that's been my experience with the more prolific varieties. I don't have any really fancy hybrids - I think the multiply slower. I like to wait till the blooms are past but it doesn't seem like that will kill them.

Re: Dividing daylillies
If I'm chopping them up in the summer I will cut them back to a couple inches high and they do fine. But I usually cut them up a lot and am growing them on for future years and don't expect any more flowers the first summer.

Some of them are way to big. DD and others would like to have some, but when they are out of flowers, we forget about it and I have the same evem bigger clumbs this year ... It is daylillies like Big Smile and Chicago Surise ect types

I'm gonna do that in a few weeks too. I know that there are a couple reds mixed in with some orange ones. I was going to do it after they bloomed last year but I wasn't sure which ones to move. When they bloom, I'll be able to see which fans need to be moved. I'm planning to loosen things up with a garden fork and try to separate the rogue plants.

Yep....anytime is fine....I learned from Chris to cut them back when you share....they do better. I need to share some here after they bloom and I will cut them back to ship....
