A Different Broccoli-Cauliflower Salad
Okay, to add to Rox's different casserole, my SIL had brought this to my parents for Easter and OMG, I loved it! It looked different than anything I have seen. She was at a Omish restaurant over in Nappennee (sp) Indiana, and they had this....she loved it and asked what it was and they told her it was in ther cook book they are selling..... ...Yep, she bought it....
Broccoli-Cauliflower Salad
Broccoli Cauliflower Salad
1 bunch broccoli
1 head cauliflower
1 small red onion
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 lb. bacon, fried & crumbled
Dressing
1/2 cup sugar
2 Tbsp vinegar
1 cup Miracle Whip
Chop up broccoli, cauliflower, and red onion. ( use a chopper/food processor. It's the texture that makes this) Add bacon, cheese, and premixed dressing. Mix well and enjoy. It's pretty and colorful! It's pretty and colorful!

Raisons? Okay, I can taste that.....
I did add the sunflower seeds, but I would say to be careful and not to add too many.....I did not measure....I didn't add that many, but I think I would want less.......I am thinking about 1/4 cup is a good amount.....that is what I put on the recipe....They are good with it for sure, but I will like a tad less than what i did add.....
Thanks everyone!

Bonnie, I forgot about the raisins, but I put that in mine also!
I've never used a food processor on it, but I do dice everything small and really cut the broccoli and cauliflower into very small pieces. It's time consuming, so a chopper might do the trick. I think you'd have to be really careful with a food processor, not to make it to mushy.

Oh man, Jane....chopping by hand? wow......Yes, my little Miracle Chopper does great! I just saw at work a electric chopper that was like $10....I can't remember the brand.....not Black and Decker, but another known brand that I can not remember....If I didn't have this hand one, I just might want that little electric,....
Yep, I dice and chop by hand . . . a lot!! For some reason I'm funny about that. I have a small chopper that I sometimes use for hot peppers when I make salsa, if I don't want to burn my hands. I can dozens of jars of salsa and chop all the tomatoes, onions, peppers, by hand. (Maybe that's why it takes me all day!) For me it's one of those soothing tasks.
I remember taking a potato salad to dinner at my former in-laws . . . she was a typical Italian mother-in-law, bless her dear sweet heart. All about food, and throwing it together, and enjoying food and people, etc. She laughed so hard and teased me endlessly about my potato salad with precision diced 1/2" cubes of potatoes, each one perfect!
Sorry, a bit off topic, but now you know my little obsession!
