I can't wait for Thanksgiving so I decided to see what everyone else was having.

I'm cooking a 7 lb turkey breast (don't like the legs so far as I know) draped in bacon and stuffed with peperage farms herb cubed stuffing with golden rasins added. (hopefully I get the onion amount right - I keep getting too much onion )

Then I'm having corn and mashed potatos then apple pie.

This is all just for me.

I've been doing this for the past 6-7 years, I have plenty of leftovers

Well, it depends on where we go... For the first time ever, DH's step sister is having a dinner at her and her DH's house.....so, they are doing the meat, Turkey, Ham and Sausage....then everyone brings a dish or two and deserts....We always have went to my side. It's rather small where Jay's is big.....I think my side might even just have it on friday.....but shoot, it's up in the air....

Sooooooo not sure what I will be cooking but I probably will take the pineapple casserole for sure to DH's side....they love it....(it's here in the forum somewhere....) but don't know what else....

There will be just five of us (DH plus DD, husband and The Munchkin), amd we all are mightily sick and tired of turkey, which I never much cared for anyway, so this year we agreed to have terducken. SIL had planned to do prime rib, but then DH saw that our supermarket is offering this, so I am going to pick one up today.

This should be interesting...

I hosted the big Thanksgiving dinner it last year, so this year I get to be a guest and take a side dish and some sweets to cousin's house.

For DH's side of the family we want to be a little more casual this year. We are having them over on Saturday for a combination tree trimming party and Thanksgiving get-together. We won't do a sit-down dinner, but rather let people help with decorating the tree, or sit and visit and nibble.

I need some help with food. Since we want to keep a Thanksgiving feel to the day, I need turkey on the menu, but not a roasted turkey. I'm thinking about a pot of turkey chili, or maybe turkey and big homemade noodles or a turkey ala' king over biscuits. What do you think? I could keep these warm all afternoon in a crock pot.

Mom and Dad are back from Texas after being away from home for 4 years, so this year Mom is cooking
My Dad won't eat turkey, so I am cooking a turkey and Mom is making a ham. We will have home baked bread (Mom), dressing, fruit salad, green salad, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, fresh cranberries, and of course pumpkin pie Yum, I am hungry just thinking about it.

What you guys have for 'Thanksgiving' we have here for Christmas day
Roast turkey is normally the order of the day, and I have to confess that I look forward to it immensley ... I can't stand turkey at any other time of the year though
Roast turkey, roast and bolied potatoes, brussels sprouts, carrots and peas
Followed by Christmas pudding with cognac laced custard (loads of cognac so I can actually taste it )

I normally have turkey for Thanksgiving and ham for Christmas and Easter. Thanksgiving is my big holiday, I'm over being force fed Christmas music for 2-3 months a year.

Sam.....LG types EXACTLY the way she talks.....fast, sometimes rambling, and says whatever comes to mind. You gotta love her!! (and I do )

My SIL likes to host family get-togethers, which is fine and dandy with me since I am not an entertainer. I will bring the rolls, a side dish and a dessert. I'll take pumpkin pies,but haven't decided on the side dish yet. There will be turkey, of course. I sure do love the leftovers. I read the post about the tree trimming party and having either Turkey Chili or Turkey Ala King and it made my tummy growl.

Sam, we have all that for Christmas also. We just have two holidays, one month apart that require massive amounts of food.

I have two work on Thanksgiving night, 7pm to 7am the next morning. So, it is just me, DH and the 2 rug rats. Probably will only fix a small meal, Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes with gravey and crustless pumpkin pie.

Sis and I were discussing maybe doing a family think on Saturday instead. Brother is being a pain about his wife allergy to cats. I have cats and am only a so-so cleaner. Sis has one and is extremely clean. But, S-I-L only complains about 'cat hair' at Sis's house.

I am making Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, killer green bean salad, 7 layer salad, relishes, dinner rolls, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, and brownie delight.
I'm going to have about 15 family members over, and it's alot less than I used to have! I'm the oldest of 7 kids, all of which but 1 live within 15 miles from me. As we all have grown up and married, had kids, some stay home to celebrate, a few go to inlaws, so 15ish is very doable! This is my 27th year hosting and I love it! DH says it's because I am a kitchen control freak, but in fact, since I do it all here, even the dishes.....No one dares to ask me to help out at Christmas or Easter, when Mom and Sis host the dinner.
I get to sit with the guys and watch TV and just enjoy the day! Although, Mom does always holler at me to make the gravy, so I do that, but no dishes afterward!

I will post the recipes for the green bean casserole and brownie delight. Both are awesome!

Just 5 here for turkey day, but I am making a turkey, a prime rib, green beans, the soup and onion stuff, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, Bob Evans, as they are better tasting than mine, gravy, stuffing, a salad and rolls.
Taylor bakes, this year a pumpkin pie, kinda from scratch, and an apple pie that bakes in a bag. Sammi is making cranberry/orange relish from the back of the cranberry pkg. and cocktail wennies in a blanket.
I bought a very cool seasoning mix at a craft show for the turkey and am going to try it cooked in a cooking bag. I did a brine last night, and will soak the bird today and overnight. These 5 people are DH and myself, 2 11/12 yr olds and an 87yr old Mil. We will be eating this stuff for a week. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
