Night Blooming Epiphyllum

Post by Queala »

My epiphyllum bloomed last night and there is another one starting to open now. Does anyone out there have any other names for this plant? I once heard it refered to as Christ in the Manger. I would like to hear if anyone else has any names for it. Here are the pics. The last one is this morning. One night and that is all the flower lasts.

Mike is the name night blooming Cereus (how ever it's spelled am in need of coffee) what you are looking for? We grow several eppies and have a lady in CA that we buy from by the name of Pat.

I reloaded the pics for you. :D I think the name of the plant is "Epiphyllum Cooperi" I found a plant book and that is what they called it. It has another bloom on it right now. :D It will take a week or so to open up. That is if it does not fall off. :???:

Peggy,
It took mine about three years to finally bloom. They bloom on the new growth. (so I was told) Mine is getting very long and spindley. It is about 9 ft tall if you hold the plant out straight. I have cut it back several times and rooted the cuttings. I have had some of them for two years and so far no blooms. :(

Night Blooming Cereus is what we call this beautiful plant at school also. Such a beauty it is! The cactus itself looks beat up and old.....but it puts out quite a few blossoms.

They say these are so white that photographing them is a challenge.....your pics are beautiful!.....p
