Azalea help

Post by Mr. Hanami »

Hi,
Last fall I planted a small Azalea ‘Gumbo White’ in front of my house foundation. It’s a South East exposure and I planted it in the far end where there is sun until around 2 - 3 pm when it gets shade. It looks pretty good now, it survived the winter OK. I’ve been doing some reading about Gumbo’s and it seems it needs more shade. Should I move it to a shadier part of my property or should I leave it?
Thank you,
J

Presumably it will be flowering soon. If that is so, and you are happy with its condition (which you seem to be) I would leave it alone
If the sun gets too hot you could always buy it an umbrella? :)

Yeah…I’ll wait and see how it looks when it flowers in May.
I like your the other option, I think it will look great with a little geisha umbrella. LOL!!!

azaleas

Post by irkwater »

My azaleas both the Japanese evergreen and the decidous kind are all planted in sunny spots and seem to be happy.

Mind you mine are in the pennines and what may be sun to you may be something else somewhere else
Give us another poem

Hi Brian,
I’m glad your azaleas are happy in the sun. I hope mine are too. BTW...what does “pennines” mean?

Thanks,
