Deer scarer

Even though we're only a couple of miles from downtown Victoria & consider our location 100% urban, we have constant trouble with these beasts coming in at night and eating things - often whatever we value most.

A couple of years ago I rigged up a ramshackle sort of Deer chaser, based on the Japanese idea, but this last week decided to try to make a better one. Luckily there was some solid metal & plastic pipe & lots of scrap wood & some spare irrigation hose lying around so all I needed to buy were a pair of threaded U-bolts. We turned on the dripper that operates it for the first time last night & this morning it was obviously working fine. The black pipe fills with water, tips forward to empty itself & then falls back to the empty position, hitting the metal bowl with a satisfying clang.
