how it used to flower
Hi Sam,
Brilliant photo's, I think wisteria's are great but mine which is in a large pot and is kept as a standard it only flowers very sparsly these days, it used to flower a lot a few years ago I know it's in the prunning, which I do late autumn and then again in late winter but this year there are only three bunches on it.This is how it used to flower.
George.

Beautiful Sam and George! Can I ask their names?? I currently have 4 and they are all in pots. George, when I watch the leaves come on I give ours a couple shots of Bat Guano and I had some awesome bloomers this year! I prune when the strangle each other and heavily in the fall to shape.

Mine took some 10 years before it flowered at all. This is its best year so far. I only prune to keep it cut back to size, and it has never been fed (in line with my motto 'feed nothing, and then nothing will feel left out' ) :)

Hi,
I to never feed mine, and prune the short branches with the leaves on all through the growing season to keep the shape which is like two clouds one slightly higher and to the left of the other. I havn't got a clue what it's name is.
George.

Nice looking wisteria, Sam. Mine is on an iron pipe gate to the front yard. It bloomed brilliantly after about 12 years, then
the farmer across the road got a little careless one year and sprayed weedkiller when the wind was in the wrong direction.
The wisteria (and a few other things) suffered, so I cut it back nearly to the ground. Thought that might be the end of it.
This year it was covered with bloom, and perfumed the entire yard. I have pruned it here and there to keep it from going
astray, but never any thoughtful sort of pruning. I've never fed mine either. I'm afraid if I do it will take over the entire front
yard.
