And now for something completely different

Post by Garden_of_Mu »

Stopped by my friends garden to see what his early irises were doing and got to see this amazing little clump of Brushstrokes (J. T. Aitken, R. 2003). Every bloom but one had five falls and multiple standards, and some falls had multiple beards. The description doesn't mention anything about this so I wonder if it is just an aberration or if this will continue to bloom this way in the future. Isn't it neat?

That is very, very cute, and I LOVE the colors! I'll have to keep my eye out for a trading partner for that one.

How interesting and unusual! :o I don't know the answer to whether or not it will continue to do this, but it sure is curious. Pretty, none the less.

Mike, you have to come down to the Aitken Iris Gardens, it's just a stone throw away. His orchids are to die for too!!

It's pretty, but I would suspect that chemicals may have caused it. I had various flowering plants (grown along the property edge) mutate in a way similar to that one summer after the neighbor had their lawn sprayed with something.

You will have to keep tabs on them to see if they do that again. I would LOVE to see something liek that in my garden!
