WE had a frost as everyone probably remembers our whining back a couple weeks. I was of course, not happy with myself when I didn't cover and found 18 tomato plants black the end of the next day.
Funny thing though. One survived in the line of 12! It was one that I had broke off a set of two in a pot and stuck in the ground. Always worked for me in the past and it did well over a week/10 days till the frost I hit. I'm sure it was black as the rest, but apparently it wasn't. That one lived through it! NOW! I find new leaves on all the other 17~ HELP!!!!!!!!!!! Will they thrive, produce, or do I remove them? I was just out there to pull them and put the new ones I BOUGHT in. What should I do?

That's a good one Mary Ann!
I think I have 36 quarts left from last year I did with mom, plus she took maybe 2 bushels home with her and canned on her own. THen my dh's family took another bushel. We gave probably another 3 bushels to other friends and neighbors not to mention the ones we ate daily. And there are only 2 of us! And donated the rest.......maybe another 2 quarts!
I'll be setting up a stand for certain!
YEAH! I think I just found someone to take some of them off my hands! WHEW!

Oh Believe me, they'll be knee deep in them at the soup kitchen and the senior center where they do home lunches and such!

We'd never had trouble getting rid of extra produce, except for zukes. There are always homeless shelters, soup kitchens ,and such that need all the help they can get. You could also check with the local churches to see if they have a food pantry for the poor. They usually do non-perishable items, but in the summer I think many of them take fresh produce. Good luck with all those maters!!

Thanks, There are many places that do take fresh produce. If nothing else, I'll set up a free stand out front! LOL
Then the people that lose their shirts and homes at the casino can pick up a snack on their way home!
