Holydays madness!!!

Post by Nathalie23 »

Hi all of you!

Long time I came at the Hallson's forum  As I know there are here a lot of dogs lover, I want to share with you what happened to me the december 23th. I went at the petshop for my daughter (she was very patient at the Jewellery store...). We saw a little dog and hold it a few minutes. The owner said that we were a nice family for this dog, for Christmas, etc... bla bla bla  DH said to me:it's your decision..... So at 16h30, we didn't talk about having a dog and at 17h00, we were leaving with a little girl! :o :o :o She's a Malkie, a mix of a yorkshire and a maltese. She weight almost 2 pounds and was born october 31th. She's very affectionate!

Did some of you know about malkie?

Here some pictures.

OMG, how cute!!! That's the best way to end up with a pet... unexpectedly. lol!

I've never heard of a Malkie, but your puppy looks similar to other dogs I've seen. I love her coloring!

Oh, how precious!!!!! :D

I agree with Ginger, I don't think I would have been able to leave without her.

She looks like a perfect match for your daughter! Your daughter looks so happy!

I hope you keep us updated on her progress.

Thanks for your nice words! :D

Don't worry Lucygoose, I really don't mind! Before buying this dog, I had no clue about malkie... even about yorkshire terrier and maltese!!!!   I had to look on the net! I don't know a lot yet. I think I will learn with my Camey. By the way, by blind chance, my colleague bought the same kind of dog and they don't look the same at all!!!

Here what I found on the net:
The Yorktese (Morkie or Malkie) is a mix of the Yorkshire Terrier and Maltese breeds. There is no recognized breed standard. However, they are becoming quite popular in the "designer dog" breeds.
Maybe you know the other name for that kind of dog!

Make sure youn get regular dental cleanings at your vet - at least once a year. Yorkies have terrible mouths! Tarter builds up to the point you can't see any tooth definition between them - one solid block of tarter. Some Yorkies that happens in less than a year. Maltese arent quite that bad. Make sure you learn how to brush her teeth and have her enjoy it too, you will be doing yourself a huge favor and be helping her keep a full set of adult teeth in her mouth.

Grooming, I don't think either breed stops growing hair, both can have skin conditions and vaccine reactions.

Both breeds are very happy, fun dogs though!

She's beautiful! You know, I really believe that sometimes even though you don't plan it, pets just find the right people to be their family. That's how we got our cat Monkey, and three months later Jet, and they're both inseparable.

What a wonderful Christmas present your family got !
