He's gorgeous.....or should I say handsome?
How about "Rex" for a name. Very regal. :)

Being a MILITARY macaw, I'd have to go with something like Sarge, General, Louie (lutenant), Major, Captain, Beetle Bailey, etc. I trim the nails for my buddie's wife's parrots. A Mollucan Cockatoo, a Yellow Naped Amizon, and an African Gray. birds but those @#%&*%#@$ sure hold a grudge.

Gorgeous bird! I don't know if I can help with a name. I've never named a bird except my Parakeet Peetie. You can see how lame that was. LOL

How about Fandango, Calypso, Ferdinand? LOL....okay I give up.

Oh I love your new bird! Not that I would want one LOL. I have my lil Turkey (Quaker Parrot) and he is big enough.
Those big ole beaks kinda scare me.

I like odd names for my critters :) Or people names.
Sometimes ya just gotta have them for a while until a name just comes to ya, well thats what works for me.

I'm sure you will find a fine name for such a pretty bird!

Okay - I am a total Jimmy Buffett fan and his fans are refered to as "Parrotheads" so my suggestions will all be in that theme....

Jolly Mon
Pirate
Sailor
Island
12 Volt Man
Tequila
Paradise

What ever you decide to name him, he is beautiful!

Will he talk ?

Post by oldcoot »

Or O.C. should ask, does he PICK UP words...........Had a CLOSE friend once that has a huge parrot of some kind. Sad something nasty to him one day when he pecked her as she was freeding him. Husband was really stunned that night when he came home from work that night and the Bird called him the same name. Joy was there and we heard it all. They haven't been able to break him of it to this day, and now the Bird greets everyone that comes to the door with the "NAUGHTY" word.

True story...O.C promises.. We decided not to get one....

Thanks all for the ideas..I'm really trying to stay away from military names..Sorry just don't care for them..
OED thats why ya gets someone else to trim the nails...
OC he does talk(not real clear tho)..but hasn't picked up any new words yet. :???: I told my DH to very carefully about what he says around the bird..If Bird bird starts saying bad words my DH is going to get it big time..

He's sure pretty! I agree... I'm a parrothead too (Jimmy Buffett!) and think one of those names would be great.

Margaret who used to post on this forum had a parrot named "Chicken", he is the neatest bird and could put a huge Rotweiler in his place, too funny to watch a little parrot stare down a large dog and win!
