Third times a charm

Post by putnamgardens »

I just HAD to boast that Abby & I passed the Animal assisted therapy dog test for Therapy dogs International. It was our third try but we finally passed. Now we will visit at hospitals, nursing homes and Police stations. They want therapy dogs to assist when children are being taken from the home to lessen the trauma. I'd post Abby's photo but I'm having some problems with my puter so I logged on in my tenents apartment where I do not have any photos saved. Later, Love, Lisa

Big congrats Lisa! It takes the right dog and the right trainer and a lot of work to get a therapy dog certification.

Thanks for all the congrats! Work is a four letter word. It's a labor of love for sure. I know they want the team to ace the test and FINALLY, we did. I laughed when I heard the "distraction" golden retriever took the test 4 times before passing. I mailed my application after the vet finished the health certificate. She had to get a "worm" test as that hadn't been part of a yearly check-up. We visited at the hospital on Monday night. She met a security guard who said he owned a husky. She loved up a lady in the elevator. The things we do to get petted ah? Later, Love, Lisa

Congratulations Abby :D and Lisa :D !

What a wonderful thing you two are doing for those people who need love and attention at such hard times in their lives. Needy kids just tear into my heart and when I hear about people like you and dogs like Abby and the work you do for them, it makes the future seem a bit brighter for all of us.

Hope Abby has some special treat coming her way today!

And P.S.----she's beauteous!!!!

Congratulations Abby and Lisa. Abby sure is a pretty dog, I love her coloring. I'm sure she will bring a lot of joy and comfort to people who need it so very much.

Bless you both for your generosity of spirit.

I had to include a picture and I'm wishing now I would have mailed this one. They engrave her image on the I.D. tag. Later, Love, Lisa

She reminds me of a dog in prison here. Honestly she has the run of the whole yard. My favorite is when she ran into the court yard so she could bark at the mailman. Later, Love, Lisa
