Foal Watch

Post by PeggyC »

We prepared the foaling stall and it was ready Sunday. Miss Poco has been spending her nights there. And we have our foaling kit ready, towels, rags, vet wrap, sterile gloves, medicines, etc. Any day now... so let the pacing begin!

DH had to re-fence one of our back pastures because they dredged our creek this past winter and this was the first day out in that pasture. They were loving it! :P

Oh my, what an exciting and tension-filled time. I can't wait to see your new foal. It's so cool that I can share in this experience with you through the forum. Please keep us posted.

Oh geepers! Time passes so slow when you are pacing! How long does it take them once they start? Wil you let us know? Or do we just pace till pics are posted?

Oh boy! This is fun. Shall we start a poll? Boy baby, or girl baby? What day?

I'll say it's a girl baby and will be born on Monday June, 3. :D

:o OED! Puter and camera in the stall! LOL

From what we understand, with no complications of course, once the birthing process begins, its usually 4 - 8 hours. So if I run in at 3:00 a.m. and post here, one of you will be up, right? :hmm: Or perhaps I could just call one of you to pace the floor??!!??

 @ pat. Last time I looked, today was June 3...and it's a Friday! You really ARE nervous, aren't you!

Now remeber, Peg...after supper and before bedtime tonight. That way you both get the whole weekend to "mother" them. And you KNOW we'll be up if you want us to be...just say the word. (That's one ROUND mare you got there, lady!! )

:P We just came in from the barn making some final preparations. Maybe we are just being nervous but we think from all the signs probably 24-48 hours! You're right, Janet, she's very round, and if you could say a horse waddles when it walks, then she's doing it.
