Sunday, a pack of 6 wild dog somehow got into the Indpls zoo and killed 3 emus, 2 black swans and 2 or 3 magpies! 4 of the dogs were shot, Lab/Chow mixes and a terrier mix. And a Pit bull captured. The last got away.
This was all the birds in the Austrialian exhibit! What if they had decided to go after people? Emus aren't small, I was at the Zoo last Monday and saw this birds, they were bigger than me!

Oh my! Is there a serious wild dog problem in Indy? That's really something. What is the zoo going to do?
The only time I ever saw wild dogs was when I worked up at GaryWorks. Out in the far reaches of the mill and on some of the surrounding undeveloped land you would see wild dogs roaming. Always heard they were dangerous. I suppose that area is all developed with the casinos, now. I haven't been back in a while.

We had this problem a number of years ago at the St. Loius Zoo. The Zoo is in the middle of Forest Park which has a very large woodland area. I've seen turkeys in there and coyotes on the Forest Park Municipal golf course. Not far away is an area of the city where people commonly leave their dogs run loose. Unfortunately, it's the zoo animals and the dogs that suffer.
