have new babies

Post by outtahand »

well, little fish babies, anyway-
these are Kribensis, a cichlid fish from Nigeria-
they are pretty peaceful for African Cichlids-
I have had them about 6 months,
I just noticed they had been getting protective of an area
in the tank, looked closer, and noticed the fry.
There's about 50 babies, they are hiding around a
dead leaf in this pic,
I circled a few to help spot them...
I'll probably move them to their own tank in about a week
or 2
I think they are about 4 days old.

That's very cool! Do they have to be moved? Would the other fish eat them? It sounds like they are protecting them so far.
Before criticizing someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them you will be a mile away and have their shoes!

Wow, cool. We had a fish tank for many years and I always hoped for babies but we never had them.

Good luck with the new babies.

Thanks goodness for red circles. I know those fish don't pose very well for photos. At least my koi come to the surface at feeding time. Congrats on the new babies. How many more years will they have to be apart from there parents? Later, Love, Lisa

I'm moving them to a seperate tank tonight-
I have never raised this kind before,
so I dont know the growth rate.
Someone told me the parents could spawn every
month when they get going...
I am afraid lots of babies shall remain in the big tank
if that happens...

thanks for looking at them!
