I Loved You Best!

Post by LucyGoose »

Boy, did this make me cry.....I found it on a papillon site for one of their dogs, and I have to share it......I tell you, we miss old Ginger tons......I put this poem under the refrigerator magnet of Ginger that PeggyC made us.....It's so appropriate for her, from us....

I Loved You Best

So this is where we part, My Friend,
and you'll run on, around the bend,
gone from sight, but not from mind,
new pleasures there you'll surely find.

I will go on, I'll find the strength,
life measures quality, not its length.
One long embrace before you leave,
share one last look, before I grieve.

There are others, that much is true,
but they be they, and they aren't you.
And I, fair, impartial, or so I thought,
will remember well all you've taught.

Your place I'll hold, you will be missed,
the fur I stroked, the nose I kissed.
And as you journey to your final rest,
take with you this...I loved you best.

So true .....

We love them.. and from the very first day we know they will live for max 7 to 15 years. The last trip to the vet is so hard, but the poem is true.. it is becaurse we loved them and if we were lucky... they loved us

Got a new dog 3 month ago, a 6 years old Lahsa Apso lady... so similar in size, color and love... so different in a lot of ways.
Rasmus wil allways be remembered and specially by my DD... it was her childhood dog. The one who -even dressed up in baby clothes and ribbons in the fur- never betraid her, the one who kept her secrets ad love.

Go find a new special friend

Yeah, there are always the ones that, for one reason or another, always standout in your mind & memories.

A couple of our Huskies will be in our hearts for ever. I still have their show leads and they have been gone for 7 yrs now.

Oh, Kathleen, how beautiful. I'm tearing up here thinking about my brother's dog Mike (half English Setter and Half Irish Setter) who came to live with us the summer before I started 7th grade and went to live in Colorado sometime after I got married. He was a beautiful, smart, loveable dog. On a visit to my brother's, Mike got in bed with me after DH got up. He growled at DH when he came back. After all those years, he still was protective of me.

It's always so hard to lose a friend when they have been loved so much for so long. Wouldn't it be wonderful if everybody in this cold world of ours could love each other they way we love out pets. Be no war then for sure.

OC wanting EVERYBODY to love EVERYBODY.....the way OC love Joy and all his FRIENDS.........
