Another one crosses the Rainbow Bridge

Post by newtohosta-no more »

We lost one of our outdoor cats yesterday. Mary Ann was a sibling to my inside boys. She was the runt of the litter and had a host of medical issues ever since she was a kitten........one of which was a chronic infection that we have treated more times than I can remember. It finally got the best of her and she crossed the bridge while being held and petted by my DD. We have buried her outside in the back yard next to our dog, Crystal. They sometimes slept together in the garage and Mary Ann would cuddle up next to Crystal to share her warmth. Mary Ann was no bigger than a peanut, never weighing more than 5 1/2 lbs, but she had a loud purr and we were blessed with it often. We love her and will miss her, but at least now she won't have to deal with the health problems. My DD has shed many tears and I know she hurts. She had planned on taking Mary Ann with her when she decided to move out.

She loved laying in the warmth of the sun out on our deck. We used to laugh at her, because if it wasn't at least 65 degrees outside, she didn't want to leave the garage.

(((((Joan and Ashley))))) I'm so sorry about Mary Ann. It's so difficult to say goodbye to our furry friends who become part of our families. Take comfort in the fact that you provided her with a good home and that she knew she was loved. Treasure your memories.

Thank you all for your kind words. Mary Ann certainly was a sweet little thing. I'll pass on your sympathies to my DD. I'm sure she will appreciate them.

Oh, hugs to both of you Joan and Ashley. The death of a furbaby is so hard. She was tiny but mighty in spirit.

I think I know why I don't stop here as often as I used to...it is hard to see a family hurting because another pet has crossed that Rainbow. I like that expression---it seems so gentle.

The picture of Mary Ann is very sweet....she just looks sooo vulnerable. I think a lot of people would have given up on her long ago. Nice to know that she was so loved, as she so needed.

I hope by now Ashley is a bit more comforted. Maybe her new apartment will be the the perfect spot for another lil' furball that needs special love...

Hugs.
