Titer Testing

Post by LucyGoose »

Just wanted to let people know about having their dogs tested with a titer test instead of having them vaccinated year after year......Rabies is the only thing that the state requires here.....being in this dog club, and just chatting with dog people, this is not that uncommon.......Vets do not voluntarily offer it, mine didn't......although, I do not know why.....When I ASKED for a titer test instead of his shots, they were like....*okay*.....So, I just got his rabies, and I do the kennel cough always because he is exposed to so many dogs all the time.....These IS a 3 year rabies, too....I just didn't get it this year.....will next year.....Purdue and others I guess, are doing studies that they are finding out that these shots last sometimes up to 6-7 years......we are over vaccinating and giving our pets more change for cancer and such......Here are a couple links......I have learned so much about food and other stuff with this boy, Willie..... Just like anything......there are extremes in anything, too....(raw feeding to me....hehe) but this one makes since to me....... 8-) I need to subscribe to the Whole Dog Journal.....my friend does...... :D

And do have all pups vaccinated.....

Here is a good thread on the subject.....I do know it's complicated! :???: And some might not agree......but for us.......(Willie) we did it.....
