Wilma had to have sugrey

Post by Annie »

Wilma had to have surgery on her foot this morning. She had to have one of her toes amputated.
She ripped out her toenail couple months ago. I have been taking her to the vet, but it wouldn't get any better. So they did give her an X Ray and she has something wrong with her toe. They thought it might be infection. But they are going to send her toe off to be looked at. Said it could be cancer. But I think (hoping) it's infection. It never bothered her until she ripped out that dang toenail. Poor thing is hurting now. I do have pain meds to give her. But she looks so uncomfortable!!

She has been wearing that hood thing for a while now.

Here she is today after her surgery.

Aww, she's cute. Hope it's not cancer, maybe it's just residual from the torn toenail.

Well she is feeling better :)
She even puts her foot on the ground once in a while now.
Get to take her bandage off tomorrow! But she has to keep her lampshade (as Muffy calles it  ) on for a bit longer.

Ouch, poor doggy!! :( It so hard when you can't really communicate with your animals, but you know they are hurting. Hope she heals up and you don't get any bad news!

Not to make light of her situation, but those "lampshades" always crack me up!

Well got the bandage off :)
With Muffy's help. But she did good while I was taking it off and Muffy hanging onto her. She is such a goooooooood dog :D

So far she isn't bothering it much. And yes she has learned to reach her foot even with the lampshade on

So good to see she is doing better. Years ago, Ash caught his nail on his kennel... but it wasn't as bad as your Wilma's injury. Max loves being a conehead. Sometimes I put it on him just to humor him! My dog's send Wilma a big hug!

Got a call from the vet. It is cancer. But they don't know how bad or what kind it is yet. She said they might have gotten it all when they amputated her toe. So now they are waiting on the rest of the test results and then they will know.
