Good thoughts and prayers need!

Post by Garden_of_Mu »

Hi all-

Our kitty Tuck (aka Booboo) vanished overnight Tuesday and we have been unable to locate him. Have done all the usual stuff to let neighbors and shelters know, searched the woods and trails. We've been having a major heatwave and the house was so hot we let them stay out that night to get some cool air after having been in all day. The next morning he and Gracie were no where to be found. She turned up later that day but still no sign of him. Other cats have recently been lost in the area. I hope a coyote or cougar has not moved in, but it is probable.

I could really use some positive energy and prayers heading out to help him make it home, or to help us deal with the loss. He's my baby and I just don't know how to face not having him in my life anymore. Appreciate your support.

Thanks all. I'm keeping a tiny bit of hope alive in a back corner, but am assuming he won't be returning. Talking with a neighbor I found out several pets are missing recently in the area, and we were just talking about how the deer population had inexplicably declined over the past few months. We're pretty sure a cougar is in the area. Haven't heard coyotes in a year or so and that is a pretty good indicator. I can deal with nature 'red in tooth and claw'. Grief is easier than not knowing. I can't deal with lost from home and living wild, maybe injured. He can't hunt worth anything and would starve without his food bowl. My poor baby. 8 years wasn't enough. I wanted to watch him grow old. I try to remember that Miss Gracie disappeared for 30 days and miracles do happen, but that was in town where resources abound. I just don't know out here.

Thanks again for thinking of us and Boo.

So sorry Mike :(

An wild animal is possible.. here i is foxes

But before you give up.. pleas call all the vets, vet hospitals, police and so again
Years ago my best friends cat disapeared, she put up notes, call every possible thing..and after 14 days a wet hospital called her to ask her, if she was sure to let her cat die

Some "nice old lady" had found her cat at their garden gate, ....took it to the police ( who forgot) and they delivered it to a vet hospital.
The cat was a burmese and clearly ear marked
Picking it up using cabs and paying for the hospital, was close to a month salary.. so hurry up calling each of them.

Oh Mike... I just got back from a 5-day trip to Idaho and saw this. I sure hope Tuck gets back to you soon. I remember when Gracie was gone for almost a month and came back to you, I'm sending good thoughts your way that Tuck will do the same thing and get home soon. He is such a gorgeous cat, I'm lucky in that I've seen him in person along with all your other fur-babies. Hang in there, and please keep us updated if you find out anything else.

Andi
p.s.... good thoughts also from my three fur-babies and three scaly-babies that Tuck is safe!

Mike,

Sprinkle used kitty litter around your property line, hopefully u have some with Tucks waste in it, also put out stinky food, like can of sardines around the property line. Maybe he will smell it and follow the smell back home.

This is why my cats are all indoor only cats. Too much danger outside here. *sigh* When Willie sneaks out I have fits trying to get him back into the house. Luckily he only sneaks out once or twice a year.

I hope Tuck finds his way home safe and sound.

Debbie

I haven't been around the forum recently, so I just saw this..... how very sad. As I was reading I kept hoping there would be good news, I'm so sorry he has gone missing. I will keep Tuck and you in my thoughts and keep hoping that he returns safe and sound.

Thanks everyone. It's nice to know there's folks out there who understand. All of our kitties had lived outdoors before we got them so were used to that freedom, and we live in a small place. We just felt it was cruel to them to keep them trapped inside after knowing the joys of exploring outdoors. If a new kitten came in I would consider keeping it indoor only - if they don't know any better they would be fine. But the current crop would be absolutely miserable being stuck inside. We've had ten years without incident. Hopefully it will be ten more before i have to deal with this again. A sure sign a big cat has moved into the area. We've told the neighbors who have small children to keep a close eye on them. With such large tracts of wooded area around us there's plenty of space for a dangerous animal to move around undetected.

I have contacted animal services and all the local vets, shelters and rescues but don't think he made it that far. We've since found out several dogs and cats in the area are missing. Our deer population has crashed as well and the coyotes haven't been around for months.
