I know it's tricky to get something the right image size and also the right file size at the same time! Try aiming for about 500 as the bigger dimension, and save the jpeg at 80% quality. That should give one that's big enough to see but small enough to upload.

Others are using the off-site picture services and posting the image url (thumbnail or otherwise).

Hi, Bev. Are you using an photo editor to resize your pictures? That's where you can set the dimension (usually the width) to 500 pixels. Then when you save the new size (use a "save as" from the menu), you will probably be given the option for "quality" for the jpeg (which is the image file format). A quality of "80" or 80% is usually fine for the forum, but you get a big reduction in the size of the file. You might even try setting the quality to 50% but keeping the photo at, say, 600 x 400 pixels or larger.

I hope that helps

I'm saving scanned photos at 1280x960 pixels then using the photobucket thing, but I'm not getting that boarder thing (header?).
