I have a friend I made a glass light for at Christmas and he just loved it. He wanted a North Pole Sign for his front yard but couldn't find a large one. So I asked his wife if I could make one for him, it would be the basic and he could deck it out however he wanted it. Well his birthday is a couple days after Easter so we thought that would be the best time to give to him. So what ya think? It's one of those 6 sided glass bricks on PVC pole painted metalic copper.

Yes this is for outside by his front porch but he is putting in a greenhouse so he may use it out there now. LG we gave him some copper color chain and told him we would do a copper sign for him if that is what he really wanted on it was the 'North Pole' but we wanted to make sure first. I did one of the glass lights with a Santa for his coffee table that had a North Pole sign on the plate of Santa's buggy.
That is when I heard about the big one he wanted for outside so his DW and I started to brain storm ideas. I came up with this and he can decorate the pole with red ribbon or what else he wants. He has bird feeders so they could hang those on it too.

wishiwere, I'm not to sure how these would go into a glass wall as Lowes just had a couple on the shelf and no photos.
There are so neat to make as toppers for a pole light only drill the hole on the back not bottom. Some folks just don't listen to instructions to well!

Did you do any prep to the PVC before painting it?

wishiwere, here is one glass block with the hole drilled in the glass so that a string of Christmas lights can go inside to lite it up. Beings that the guys drilled the hole in the bottom of the 6 sided block I had to have them drill a hole at the top of the pipe so the light could be replace when the light goes out.

Pat, I cleaned the PVC with soapy water, them took a fine sand paper to it before using a plastic spray paint to it.

Thanks Karma! DH has a large diameter PVC pipe around the birdfeeder pole to keep the squirrels out. I was thinking it would look much nicer painted metallic copper. :D

Paint it and have him drill holed in it, fill it with dirt and stuff little strawberries in the holes. Instant planter.
