Another 1860's Dress

Post by Penhalion »

This one is a much more practical day dress made from a very light, gauzey wool. It's not black, it's a fine check in dark grey and a lighter greenish grey. Just finished it this morning!

Very nice! I cannot imagine having to wear a dress like that every day, but what fun it must be to re-enact those times. I've only visited a Civil War encampment once, but I enjoyed it very much.

Another wonderful creation! It would be fun to dress like that on occasion, but I sure wouldn't want to have to dress like that all the time!
Love the gray and how it looks with the shawl. :D

I think that dress is gorgeous! For all the sewing I do, I have not made a dress in so long I don't know if I still could.

I've got to keep reading - I'm anxious to know what this was made for? It is beautiful!
